Dr. Adriana Garcia, outgoing Chair of the San Antonio Ethics Review Board, has announced her candidacy for District 4 of the San Antonio City Council. The seat is currently held by Councilman Rey Saldaña, who will be vacating his position in May 2019 due to term limits.
Dr. Garcia is a lifelong resident of San Antonio and has called District 4 her home for the past 35 years. She was raised in and continues to call District 4 home. She has been active for years in the community in positions of leadership. Most recently, she served her community as co-chair of the successful SWISD 2018 bond. Dr. Garcia previously served as the Director of Public Relations for SWISD.
In her role as Chair of the Ethics Review Board, Dr. Garcia successfully spearheaded comprehensive ethics reforms that City Council adopted in June of 2018. These reforms greatly strengthened transparency and accountability in our city government.
Dr. Garcia is running because she sees tremendous potential for District 4 to become an economic driver for San Antonio, and by extension bringing much needed services and prosperity to the residents of her lifelong district. With strong leadership and focus on leveraging District 4 assets such as Port San Antonio, Toyota Manufacturing, Lackland AFB, and Palo Alto College, there is an opportunity to bring transformative development and job creation to District 4.
Dr. Garcia’s knowledge of the community, extensive involvement in education and workforce development, and her strong background in business and local government uniquely position her to be a strong candidate in the upcoming election, but more importantly, to serve as an effective leader for the residents of District 4 and San Antonio.
